A pip-pin is another name for a ball lock pin. These are quick-release fasteners designed for secure installations and are easy for operators to use. In aircraft, pip-pins or ball lock pins are used in multiple areas, however the most visible application of ball lock pins in an aircraft is the arming/disarming mechanism of the aircraft doors.
Our Pip-pins (also known as flightpins or ball lock pins) are Aviation Standard approved and manufactured according to NASM norms (formerly MS norms). The products are tested to NAS 1332 standards and are marked with identification numbers. We can provide both metric and imperial sizes and can also help with producing bespoke dimensions. The Wixroyd Aviation Pip-pin range is produced according to NASM norms, and tested to NAS standards. Our manufacturing processes have been assessed and certified by EASE (European Aerospace Supplier Evaluation) to EN9100D.
All our Aviation Pip-pins are individually marked to enable identification of their production lot number. All material details are given on the individual product pages for example:

Handle (part 4):
A380 (QQ-A-591), anodized (black) per MIL-A-8625
Attaching ring (part 5):

Stainless steel split ring to rectangle tab lanyard for use in securing components to assemblies. Green coating. Conforms to military spec MIL-DTL-83420.
Thermoplastic cable tie - available with either two cable tie ends, or with one cable tie end and one M4 screw compatible fixing hole. For use at up to 80 °C.
Coiled spring wire lanyard - for removable attachments that require flexible extension. This is a steel wire rope coated in thermoplastic polymer.
Stainless steel loop-to-loop lanyard to prevent misplacement of components such as ball lock pins. Stainless steel crimps tested up to 28 Kgf. For use at up to 250 °C (uncoated variation).
